Arigato Hakari Sushi!
My dining companion and I were looking forward to some Japanese delights that evening! We decided to wear our kimonos and hair up "Geisha" style! As we passed through the half curtains in the entry way, the sights and sounds of Nippon were all around.
The hostess tried to seat us near the kitchen, but a seat at the sushi bar was my hearts desire. I quickly let her know and she accommodated. It may have been because of my smile or because I'm friends with Mr. Hakari. You see, he is my neighbor from the next block over. We often run into each other while he is out walking his Daschund mix, and me my Yorkie.
I started off with the Miso Soup. For those of you who don't know, this is the chicken noodle soup of the Japaense culture. I found it lacking in seaweed. The sashimi was delish and the rolls were ho-hum.
After all the work of the hair and make-up that evening I was entitled to some desert. We sampled the bean ice creams. Scrump!
Id rate this a 3.5 out of 5.

My wife and I went on opening day at around 8:30pm, it was busy but not slammed. The staff was very polite and attentive, but it took forever (about 1.5hrs) to get the sushi part of our order.
I know there are mishaps usually on opening day/week but a wait like ours was excesive. I hope that this is not the norm. With this said, the food was very good and I've already recommended this place to friends in the neighborhood. Also, we both plan on going back.

What's to make fun of, in this case? The reviewer was even-keeled in their review, which had a balance of reviewing the service as well as the food. It was fair, and took into account that the place has just opened. I find the Shelly reviews to be hilarious, but the above commenter doesn't seem like they fall into that category.

Funny that I make an honest review and mention a long wait, this puts me in the entitled box according to @anon 7:47. We aren't that type at all, and I don't see why a 1.5hr wait wouldn't be considered long.
We sat there, ordered more food that we knew would be quick, had a nice conversation, enjoyed each others company, and didn't complain to the staff about the wait. Our waiter and other staff were well aware that food was taking a while, not just for us but for other diners. They were apologetic and offered some dishes on the house, which we didn't ask for but was a nice gesture.

@Anon 12:12 - thanks for the review. I, at least, think it's useful when someone in the neighborhood has had the chance to try out a new place and can give their thoughts on it.

Guess I'm the minority contrarian who finds Shelly UNfunny. Too obvious. Popville commenters would love her attempts at faux Yelp obnoxiousness, but I thought FT commenters were a little more discerning in their comedic tastes. Guess not.

We went there this weekend and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is great - and the food is good and reasonably priced. Their menu is super extensive - to be honest I was quite overwhelmed. We ordered a lot of sushi; some noodle dish and I had NY steak Hibachi - oh and maybe 3 orders of hot saki. The entire meal cost us about $80 for three people. We'll definitely be going back.
